Divisional Videoconferencing Solutions
Many divisions have their own local solutions. Interested faculty should contact their divisional educational technology support representative. Of, if instructors do not know who that is, they can email Quercus Help staff at and refer you to the appropriate contact.

Strategies for facilitating student interaction online

  • Webinar tools generally include additional tools such as: screen sharing, whiteboard, polling, and chat functions. Sessions can also be recorded, and the session links can be shared with students to view on Quercus.   • Use Discussions or PeppeR in Quercus to encourage student interaction with course content, with their peers, and with instructors and Teaching Assistants. For examples of online discussion activities, please see CTSI’s Engaging Students in an Online Environment page and Facilitating Discussions.
  • Use the Groups tool to break students into groups in Quercus. This tool provides students with a shared space where they can manage their groupwork and communicate with each other.
  • Review CTSI’s Active Learning and Adapting Teaching Techniques. The strategies presented here were written for teaching in-person, many of the active learning techniques can be applied online.
